Description

Tesla has been the victim of a new vulnerability. This time it is related to Dashcam technology, a camera installed on board – in the windshield area – that records everything that happens around Tesla cars. The brand does not digitally sign the images recorded with the Dashcam system, so any user, with little knowledge, could manipulate these images and falsify them.

Description

In the Netherlands, there are applications that can be linked to cell phones so that cyclists can ride more safely and find the green light when they have to go through a traffic-light controlled intersection – there are also similar apps for ambulance or truck drivers. However, researchers Wesley Neelen and Rik Van Dujin, both co-founders of the company Zolder, wanted to check whether they could hack traffic lights and alter traffic remotely and from any distance using this app.

Today’s increasingly intelligent vehicles incorporate a growing number of technological devices. These new devices offer a large number of attack vectors, as highlighted by the company CISCO, which, during an investigation, saw how its team dedicated to penetration and evaluation of the customer experience – known as CX APT and made up of experts in connected vehicle components – found a vulnerability that allowed memory to be corrupted… causing the program to enter an undefined state to subsequently allow remote execution of code – after all, the instructions to be followed by a given device.

Year 2020

Country United Kingdom
Description

Criminals manage to steal two vehicles during the night in the town of Milton Keynes, United Kingdom. Both thefts are carried out without using force and without using the car keys – it is known that at least one of them was a Mercedes model. To carry out the operation, the criminals placed equipment near the house to intercept the signal from the keys. They then used the intercepted signal to transmit it remotely to the car, open the doors and take it away. During the getaway, one of the vehicles was stopped by the suspects… but did not start again, so it was abandoned.

Year 2020
Month May
Country India
Description

The popular car rental platform Zoomcar has been the victim of an act of hacking and data theft. Specifically, criminals accessed and stole personal data of about 3.5 million Zoomcar users, although they did not put it up for sale on the deep web until two years later… to give them a time window to avoid being tracked by their computer’s IP. That data included information such as usernames, email IDs, cell phone numbers, passwords and IP addresses. The data was found by cybersecurity consultant Rajshekhar Rajaharia, who warned that they were asking just €270 for it.
